The Role at a glance:

We are looking to add an experienced line cook to work with a highly motivated and energetic kitchen staff at our Commissary in Long Island City, NY for our Constellation division. 

Summary:

Performs food preparation and production tasks efficiently and accurately under the direction of Executive Chef, Sous Chef & Culinary Supervisors. Consistently follows safe food handling policies and procedures, recipes, and plating instructions, etc.

Essential Functions:

  • Practices proper & safe food handling, storage, receiving, stocking & rotating procedures
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes, ensuring consistent flavor, presentation, and portion sizes.
  • Perform food production work efficiently, while monitoring a neat and sanitary work area.
  • Ensure portion control of all items is per standard set by the chef
  • Ensure appearance of all food items is per standard set by the chef
  • Ensure the temperature of all food items are within the required range and documented as per NYC Department of Health code
  • Ensure that the production sheets are completed without mistakes or shortages, if there are any shortages, notify the manager on duty immediately.
  • Promptly report malfunctioning equipment or food shortages to supervisor.
  • Demonstrate a conscientious attitude in daily operations through portion control and reducing waste.
  • Completes all other tasks and related duties as assigned
  • Maintains stock (restocks) cleans & organizes work area.
  • May prepare, set up and serve special functions and catered events following proper procedures of high quality.

Qualifications Standards:

  • Lifts and carry products up to 50 lbs.
  • NYC DOH Food Handlers Certificate required.
  • Minimum of 3-years of high-volume line cooking experience.
  • Stands or walks during the entire 8–10-hour shift.
  • Performs a job at a continuously high pace, under pressure, while maintaining quality and speed standards.
  • Works closely with other staff members, often in confined areas.
  • Flexible in performing other related tasks designated by the management.
  • Meets all Constellation Culinary standards for safe food handling.
  • Must have experience and knowledge of kitchen equipment, including but not limited to knives, slicers, salamander, stove, oven, mixer and steamer.

 

Compensation:

$24 an hour.
