Position Summary
The QA Supervisor is responsible for overseeing food safety, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and sanitation programs within a USDA-regulated food production facility. This role ensures products meet USDA, FDA, customer, and company standards while supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
The QA Supervisor leads QA technicians and collaborates with production, sanitation, maintenance, and operations teams to maintain compliance with HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, and all applicable food safety regulations.

Pay up to $67,000/yr
Key Responsibilities
Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, HACCP, SSOP, GMP, and company food safety standards.
- Monitor and verify HACCP plans, CCPs, preventive controls, and prerequisite programs.
- Maintain readiness for USDA inspections, third-party audits, and customer audits.
- Investigate and document non-conformances, deviations, customer complaints, and corrective actions.
- Ensure labeling, allergen controls, traceability, and product hold/release procedures are properly followed.
Quality Assurance Operations
- Supervise daily QA activities on production floors.
- Review production records, QA logs, sanitation records, and temperature documentation.
- Conduct product evaluations, inspections, and quality checks.
- Oversee environmental monitoring and microbiological testing programs.
- Ensure calibration of QA equipment and monitoring devices.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate QA Technicians and hourly QA staff.
- Develop employee training on food safety, GMPs, sanitation, and quality systems.
- Schedule QA coverage to support all production shifts as needed.
- Promote a culture of food safety and continuous improvement.
Audit & Documentation Management
- Maintain accurate QA documentation and records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist with internal audits and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) programs.
- Prepare reports and trend analyses related to quality metrics and food safety performance.
- Support customer and regulatory audit responses.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent industry experience may be considered.
Experience
- 3–5+ years of quality assurance or food safety experience in a USDA-regulated food manufacturing environment.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with ready-to-eat (RTE), protein, poultry, meat, or commissary operations is a plus.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of:
- HACCP
- USDA regulations
- GMPs
- SSOPs
- SQF/BRC standards
- Food defense and food fraud programs
- Ability to interpret regulations and apply corrective actions.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and QA documentation systems.
- Ability to work in cold/refrigerated production environments as needed.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to work in refrigerated, wet, or noisy production environments.
- Flexible schedule including weekends or off-shifts when necessary.
