The Role at a glance:

We are looking to add an experienced, motivated Assistant General Manager to our Constellation Culinay Group team in Newark, NJ. As an Assistant General Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with running the day- to-day food service operation of a medium to large volume location.  You will manage and lead a team of associates and oversee quality controls for the account.

This opportunity is at an exciting cultural center with multiple F&B operations!

What you'll be doing:

The Assistant General Manager assists with managing food service operations in accordance with the approved budget while providing the client with the exceptional service.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assists with all financial reporting and budgeting.
• Manages salaried managers and hourly associates in the Food Service Department.
• Responsible for all hourly hiring, on-boarding, training with a strong focus on team member growth.  
• Establishes and maintains good rapport with staff, client and guests.
• Manages purchasing and inventory controls.
• Is knowledgeable on HACCP controls along with proper storage and use of food.

What we're looking for:

• B.S. Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or related field; or A.A. Degree plus two years of directly related experience preferred
• Two to four years of direct foodservice operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge and control
• Strong knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
• Financial and business acumen skills
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficient computer skills to include; various computer programs, Microsoft Office programs, e-mail and the Internet
• ServSafe® Certified
