The Role at a glance:

 Elior North America is seeking an expert Corporate Tax Accounting Manager to join our Finance Team. The Tax Manager will specialize in Federal, State, and State Franchise Taxes and will lead our internal income tax function while coordinating closely with a third-party outsourcing firm. Further, this role will also work closely with the Manager of Sales Tax and Business Licensing ensuring compliance with regulations-managing sales tax audits, providing technical support, etc. to mitigate risk. This role is crucial for managing the complexities of tax planning, compliance, and reporting, with an emphasis on optimizing tax strategies and ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations. In addition, this role will also partner with our third-party unclaimed property consulting firm ensuring compliance with all regulations.

What you'll be doing:

  • · Work closely with a third-party outsourcing firm to prepare quarterly Federal and State Income and Franchise tax estimates and tax provisions. Review results and report to Parent Company Tax Leadership periodically as requested. Ensure that all data provided is accurate and that filings meet all regulatory requirements.
  • · Collaboration with third-party party tax vendors to ensure all tax returns are being prepared on time and pending requests are responded to quickly.
  • · Handle daily corporate tax functions such as addressing notices, handling tax payments and mailings, and communicating with other business unit leaders.
  • · Provide operational tax support and guidance, including managing federal and state income tax audits. Liaise with tax authorities and negotiate issues to secure favorable outcomes. Respond to Income and Franchise Tax notices and engage/manage third parties as appropriate.
  • · Develop and implement tax planning strategies focusing on federal and state income tax implications to support the company's objectives. Advise on the tax-efficient structuring of business initiatives.
  • · Preparing income tax provisions under US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards, performing tax research, and producing technical memorandums
  • · Independently analyze data pertaining to unclaimed property consulting matters including but not limited to, liability assessments, state voluntary disclosures, audit defense and/or asset recovery
  • · Create ad hoc financial reports and other analyses and participate in special projects as requested by management.
  • · Participate in special projects, including business development opportunities and cross-finance improvement initiatives.
  • · Establish, maintain, and update income and franchise tax policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and adapt to legislative changes.
  • · Provide project management support of initiatives, including project planning, tracking of key deliverables, and providing regular status reports to leadership.
  • · Support process owners/control owners and cross-functional teams to ensure controls are designed and implemented effectively.

What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • · 7-10 years of experience with focus on federal and state income tax issues in a corporate or large enterprise setting and multi-state sales tax experience
  • · Extensive knowledge of U.S. federal and state income tax laws and regulatory requirements.
  • · Knowledge of unclaimed property regulations.
  • · Self-starter with the ability to problem solve and bring tasks to completion.
  • · Must be able to communicate ideas effectively and concisely to all levels, including internal management and segment finance peers, specifically as it relates to explaining complex tax concepts to stakeholders across the organization.
  • · Advanced PC skills, particularly in the use of Excel .
  • · High-level attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in work product
  • · Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • · Background in collaborating with a team and establishing good working relationships.
  • · Ability to coordinate the completion of multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize competing requirements.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) 
  • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains or other large ERP systems
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
