The Role at a glance:

Our centralized Houston, TX based Accounting Organization is looking for a self-driven and solutions-oriented Manager, Accounts Payable.  to join a fast paced and maturing team as they create efficiencies within their processes and procedures.     

As an Accounts Payable Manager you will be responsible for overseeing vendor payments, resolving discrepancies and adjustments, administering internal controls, and managing the Accounts Payable team. 

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage Accounts Payable team job duties and performance. 
  • Implement and administer Accounts Payable internal controls. 
  • Review weekly check run. 
  • Interface with vendors and resolve discrepancies. 
  • Collaborate with company branches/purchasing to resolve problems. 
  • Respond to vendor requests for payment status. 
  • Assist with vendor credit application submittal and term review. 
  • Set up new vendors. 
  • Maintain sales tax records. 
  • Enter adjustments in vendor accounts. 
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests. 
  • Enter invoices for payment as needed. 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the VP, Finance Accounting Center 
  • This position’s responsibilities could grow as the employee demonstrates proficiency and interest. 
  • Lead and support cross-functional organizational projects 
  • Ensure all AP transactions are compliant with established approval policies and procedures. 

What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Relevant work experience may be substituted for education. 
  • 5+ years related accounting experience. 
  • 2-3 years management experience with leading teams 
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Microsoft Office proficiency including Word, Excel, and Outlook 
  • Ability to build trust and strong relationships, finding solutions and influencing outcomes to drive superlative performance. 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Comfort and capability in navigating uncertain or unclear situations, making informed decisions, and adapting to changing circumstances. 
  • Ability to turn data from various sources into insights with a strong mindfulness in a fast-changing environment. 
  • Responsible and accountable for self and teams’ actions, decisions, and performance, both in terms of achieving objectives and adhering to agreed-upon standards, guidelines, and expectations. 
  • Critical thinking skills are essential for this role

  • Manages and ensures all departmental internal controls and business processes are reviewed and approved related to master data, payments and statement reconciliations.
