The Role at a glance:

Elior North America is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager, General Ledger (GL) to join our driven and solutions-oriented, centralized Houston, TX based Accounting Organization. As the Accounting Manager, GL you will play a pivotal role in managing all aspects of general accounting, including overseeing the general ledger and financial reporting processes. Additionally, you will provide leadership and supervision to the general accounting team.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading the month-end closing process resulting in meaningful and accurate financial reporting. 
  • Recording and verifying month end entries and transactions to ensure accurate month-end general ledger and financial statements. 
  • Reconciling the balance sheet & appropriate subsidiary accounts. 
  • Summarizing the financial status by collecting information and preparing all necessary month-end financial statements & analysis. 
  • Reviewing trade spend and managing accruals. 
  • Work with Payroll team to process/reconciling weekly payroll files, ensuring accuracy, and entering appropriate transactions into the financial system. 
  • Find efficiencies in the current processes and procedures to allow more time for analysis. 
  • Assist with annual audit and tax filings as it relates to information gathering & coordination. 
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, and company policies, and perform other research and analysis as required 
  • Guide their team’s professional development through goal setting and progress monitoring. 
  • Build trust and strong relationships, finding solutions and influencing outcomes to drive superlative performance. 
  • Turn data from various sources into insights with a strong attention to detail in a fast-changing environment. 
  • Use the numbers to tell the clear story, filtering the data and removing noise.  

What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.  
  • Minimum of 6 – 8 years of general accounting management and/or finance reporting experience required. 
  • SAP or Great Plains or similar ERP knowledge & experience a plus. 
  • Previous experience managing and developing a team. 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels 
  • Comfort and capability in navigating uncertain or unclear situations, making informed decisions, and adapting to changing circumstances. 
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills. 
  • Developed organizational and project management skills 
  • Customer focused to ensure integrity of data 
  • Demonstrated self-starter, ongoing self-growth and development, advancement potential 
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
