Compensation

$130,000 – $150,000 annually, based on experience.

Summary

This is a corporate safety leadership role focused on enterprise safety programs, analytics, and cross-segment strategy. The Director partners closely with business unit safety leaders and operational leadership to drive proactive safety improvements across the organization.

 

This position does not manage safety at a single facility or site and does not have direct reports. Instead, it serves as the corporate leader responsible for developing, coordinating, and advancing enterprise-wide safety programs and performance.

 

The role is highly hands-on and analytical, requiring the ability to translate safety data, operational insights, and emerging risks into practical initiatives that strengthen employee safety across multiple business segments.

 

Responsibilities

Enterprise Safety Strategy & Program Leadership

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide workplace safety programs across all business units.
  • Partner with business unit safety leaders to promote alignment, consistency, and adoption of best safety practices across the organization.
  • Serve as the corporate subject matter expert for enterprise safety programs, providing guidance and support to segment safety leads.
  • Evaluate existing safety initiatives and implement improvements that reduce risk and strengthen employee safety outcomes.

 

Safety Performance Analytics & Reporting

  • Own the tracking, analysis, and reporting of company-wide safety metrics, including incident rates, trends, and leading indicators.
  • Identify patterns and emerging risk areas through safety data analysis and develop targeted action plans to improve safety performance.
  • Prepare and present safety performance insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Monitor safety performance trends across business units and support leaders in executing improvement initiatives.

 

Proactive Risk Identification & Prevention

  • Anticipate emerging safety risks and develop preventative strategies to mitigate incidents before they occur.
  • Monitor external factors such as weather events, operational changes, and industry trends, proactively reinforcing safety guidance to operational teams.
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders to implement preventative measures that protect employees and reduce operational risk.

Incident Review & Investigation Leadership

  • Lead or support investigations for significant safety incidents to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Participate in the incident review process, evaluating major incidents and identifying opportunities for preventative improvement.
  • Ensure investigation outcomes translate into practical safety improvements across the organization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence

  • Partner with Risk Management, HR, Legal, Operations, and Insurance teams to strengthen the organization’s safety framework.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of safety policies, procedures, and compliance programs.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on safety strategy, trends, and organizational risk.Support a culture where safety concerns are raised, addressed, and continuously improved across the organization.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Experience supporting or leading corporate or multi-site safety programs, including analyzing safety performance metrics and driving enterprise safety initiatives.
  • Experience working with multiple business units, regions, or operating segments to improve safety outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety regulations.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence leaders across the organization.
  • Willingness to travel approximately once per month to operational locations across the United States to support safety program initiatives and collaboration with business unit safety leaders.
