The Role at a Glance

Elior North America is looking for a Business Systems Analyst to support and enhance business applications used across our organization. This role will serve as a bridge between business users and technical teams, helping troubleshoot application issues, gather requirements, identify opportunities for improvement, and support system enhancements and implementations.

This is a hands-on role with a strong combination of business analysis, application support, system administration, and SQL-based troubleshooting. You'll work directly with users to understand how applications are being used, investigate issues, and translate business needs into clear requirements for technical teams.

The ideal candidate is comfortable looking beyond the front end of an application. You should be able to use SQL to understand application data and structure, investigate issues, and work effectively with developers and integration resources. This is not a SQL Developer or Database Administrator position, but strong SQL proficiency is required.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Meet with business users to understand application needs, issues, processes, and enhancement requests.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
  • Provide ongoing support and administration for business applications, including internally developed and custom applications.
  • Investigate application issues and determine whether they relate to data, configuration, integrations, functionality, or application code.
  • Use SQL queries to research issues, validate data, understand application structures, and support troubleshooting.
  • Read and understand application logic or code sufficiently to help identify potential causes of errors and communicate findings to technical resources.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications for developers, integration resources, and other technical teams.
  • Partner with development and integration teams on application fixes, enhancements, and new functionality.
  • Document workflows, business rules, data requirements, system functionality, and process changes.
  • Develop and execute test cases and support user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Coordinate with business users and technical teams to move approved system changes into production.
  • Support system implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and go-live activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes through technology, automation, integration, or system enhancements.
  • Provide production support and troubleshoot application issues through resolution.
  • Maintain application and process documentation and support knowledge transfer and user training.
  • Manage multiple application issues, enhancements, and projects while balancing immediate support needs with longer-term initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional, global IT, development, and offshore teams.
  • Follow established change management and change control processes.
  • Travel as needed for project meetings, system implementations, training, and go-live support.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in business systems analysis, application support, systems analysis, or a related role.
  • Strong SQL proficiency, including the ability to write and interpret queries and understand relational data structures.
  • Experience supporting, administering, or troubleshooting business applications.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into functional or technical requirements.
  • Ability to investigate application issues by analyzing data, system behavior, integrations, configuration, and application logic.
  • Working knowledge of software development and application architecture concepts; ability to read or interpret code is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting system implementations, enhancements, testing, and production releases.
  • Experience working directly with business users and technical teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a changing environment.
  • Experience with custom-built or internally developed applications is preferred.
  • Experience with application integrations and master data management is a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for meetings, projects, implementations, training, and go-live support.

What Success Looks Like

You can talk with a business user about what isn't working, understand the underlying business process, investigate the application and data, and then work with the appropriate technical resources to get to a solution. You're equally comfortable discussing requirements with users, querying data in SQL, testing a system change, and supporting an application after it goes live.
