The Role at a glance:
We are looking to bring an experienced cafe worker to our correctional team in Bolivia, NC. As a cafe worker, you will be responsible for preparing and serving food and beverages within a correctional facility café or commissary setting while maintaining safety, sanitation, and security standards. This position supports daily food service operations, assists customers, handles stocking and cleaning duties, and follows all facility policies and procedures.
Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
What you'll be doing:
- Prepare and serve coffee, beverages, sandwiches, snacks, and other café items
- Operate cash register or point-of-sale system as applicable
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of café, kitchen, dining, and service areas
- Restock food, beverages, paper products, and supplies
- Follow portion control and food safety guidelines
- Assist with food preparation, packaging, and labeling
- Wash dishes, utensils, and food preparation equipment
- Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisor of shortages
- Provide professional customer service to staff, visitors, and approved individuals
- Follow all correctional facility security procedures and protocols
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment
- Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
What we're looking for:
Must-haves:
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic food preparation and food handling knowledge
- Ability to follow sanitation and safety procedures
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Cash handling or register experience preferred
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25–40 pounds
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to perform multiple tasks at once.
Nice-to-haves:
- Food Handlers certification preferred.
Compensation Range
$17.00 per hour
