The Role at a glance:

We are looking to add a skilled, motivated sales associate to our Dining & Events team in Arlington, VA. As a sales associate, you will be supporting and assisting the Design Cuisine Rental Account Executive in maintaining client accounts. This person will assist directly in inquiry qualification, event orders, service organization, and other services pertinent to client satisfaction and event rental success.

What you'll be doing:

  • Perform all the essential daily clerical tasks to assist for clients' events as directed by the Account Executives.
  • Understand all services and products provided by DC Rental and their general prices.
  • Maintain an accurate file on all clients reflecting their needs and changes.
  • Be prepared for and attend all Account Management and Sales Department meetings.
  • Produce accurate proposals reflecting the needs and budget of the client and within pricing guidelines of Design Cuisine.
  • Prepare all menus and materials for sales executive for weekly meetings with the chef and biweekly one-on-one meetings with the DOS.
  • Work with Account Executive and/or clients to create the vision for their event. Assist in scheduling and confirming appointments and tastings.
  • Create appropriate equipment rental orders from our DC Rental Office for certain events – tastings, in-house, small events. Start equipment orders as requested.
  • Submit requests for staff to the scheduling department according to scheduling guidelines.
  • Field all event inquiries to capture new business opportunities.
  • Manage workflow for the Account Executive, including timelines, calendars, contacts, and event deadlines.
  • Aid the Account Executive in collecting all event related invoices and expenses, in order to close billing after an event concludes.
  • Produce concise information and directions for on-site event staff.
  • Attend events as requested with Account Executive, or other teams, based on event volume.
  • Supervise set-up and execute on-site event management procedures.

What we're looking for:

Has ability to work in a fast paced, creative environment with a basic understanding of food culture and event design. Is calm under pressure and is able to keep an upbeat attitude through stressful situations. Have good written and verbal communication skills. Has general technical skills with knowledge of database management and Microsoft Office Suite. Has ability to work effectively with coworkers - a team player. Is able to think outside of the box and solve problems. Has advanced initiative and confidence to learn the business with a steep learning curve. Has a strong desire to advance within the company into an Account Executive role (based on performance and an acquired skill set).

Bachelor's degree in liberal arts from an accredited four-year institution; hospitality and/or event management experience preferred.
