The Role at a glance:

We are looking to add a skilled, experienced Senior Sous Chef to our Dining and Events team in Tarrytown, NJ at our Abigail Kirsch Commissary . As a sous chef with Abigail Kirsch, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of team of dynamic seasoned cooks.  You will work with your team on production and execution of small and large events in Tarrytown and the tri-state area.

Compensation- $65,000- $70,000

What you'll be doing:

  • Independently supervise team of associates; job duties include; assigning and prioritizing tasks, following up, monitoring for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Determine if staff shift changes are necessary.
  • Manage Production teams.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality and consistency is met by adjusting recipes, making menu changes as needed.
  • Ensure that all culinary methods, procedures and quality standards are compliant with SOP’s.
  • Complete event reports at conclusion of events; evaluating overall performance, critique of event including staff, product, quantity and any other concerns. 
  • Reprioritize tasks throughout the day/event to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
  • Participate in kitchen meeting and provide operational feedback.
  • Participate in menu and recipe development which includes updating recipes as needed and training others on how to recreate the dishes.


What we're looking for:


  • Demonstrated institutional, hotel, or restaurant culinary skills to include large quantity production. 
  • Must have 2 years of culinary management experience. 
  • Strong leadership, oral and written communication skills are required. 
  • A proven track record of successfully controlling costs and managing annual budgets.
