The Role at a glance:

We are looking to add a Staffing Manager to our Abigail Kirsch team in New York, NY. The Staffing Manager for the New York, Connecticut, and Tarrytown regions oversees the full lifecycle of staffing operations across all business units. This role is responsible for booking, maintaining, and executing all event staffing within company systems, ensuring accuracy from initial event entry through final execution.
The Staffing Manager translates booked business into actionable staffing plans by aligning staffing levels with BEOs, processing event changes, managing scheduling systems, and coordinating logistics. This position ensures staffing operations are efficient, scalable, and aligned with service standards while supporting fluctuating seasonal demands. Weekend availability and increased commitment during peak seasons are required to ensure seamless event execution.

 

What you'll be doing:

 

Onboarding & Training:

  • Manage TIPS certification and Sexual Harassment training compliance, including documentation tracking and record maintenance.
  • Support workforce development initiatives and ongoing service education.

 

Workforce Planning & Scheduling:

  • Manage and distribute annual staff shifts using scheduling software.
  • Create and release shift offers; monitor confirmations and fill vacancies.
  • Replace staff callouts and manage last-minute staffing adjustments, especially during peak season.
  • Prepare and distribute event staff sheets.
  • Provide weekend coverage and real-time staffing support as needed.
  • Offer onsite event staffing support when required.

 

Event & Systems Management:

  • Enter and maintain event data, change requests, and scheduling updates within company systems.
  • Monitor catering platforms, task lists, and trucking schedules to ensure proper staffing alignment.
  • Review post-event reports to assess staffing effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage transportation coordination and agency staffing logistics, including invoice reconciliation.
  • Participate in weekly BEO meetings and collaborate with Sales and Operations teams.

 

Employee Management:

  • Maintain accurate and compliant employee files, including documentation related to hiring, training, performance, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all corrective actions are properly documented, signed, and communicated.
  • Conduct staffing evaluations and maintain performance records.

 

General and Administrative:

  • Interface with Payroll, Operations, Sales, and other departments to ensure seamless staffing execution.
  • Monitor staffing metrics and recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support operational adjustments due to fluctuations in event volume.

 

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience in the catering or hospitality industry with a strong background in staffing management and training.
  • Expertise in fine dining service standards and event-based operations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing high-volume scheduling.
  • Proficiency in scheduling platforms such as Nowsta or comparable systems.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive, results-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a leadership team and engage with staff at all levels.
  • Superior communication skills, capable of managing and motivating a diverse workforce.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and compliance.
  • Availability to work weekends and overtime as required, particularly during peak seasons
 

Compensation Range:

  • $75-78k/yr. dependent on experience.
