The Role at a glance:

We are looking to add an experienced, motivated event manager to our Abigail Kirsch team in New York. The Event Manager is responsible to work in partnership with the Director of Catering as well as Sales Managers to guarantee exquisite event execution. The EM plays a critical role in ensuring that events are successful and meet client and guests’ expectations. The EMs’ role involves a range of responsibilities including planning, vendor management, on-site event management and post event analysis.  
 

What you'll be doing:

  • Responsible for full ownership of event after sales handoff (once contract is signed and deposit is collected)
  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients, venue partners, vendors, and team members related to all event execution details while possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Designs and manages the logistics of the event – determining setup needs including floorplan creation, timeline planning, catering rental equipment selection process, etc.
  • Responsible for creating supervisor packet and general event paperwork - produce concise information and directions for on-site event staff. 
  • Communicate effectively with the sales, culinary, warehouse and staffing department to communicate all stakeholders needs.  
  • Identifies potential risks or challenges associated with the event and develops contingency plans to mitigate them. This involves anticipating any possible scenarios that could impact the events success.  
  • Coordinate with various vendors and suppliers to ensure that everything required for the event is available and fully operational.  
  • Client management: attend walk throughs, lead operations for tastings, communicate any logistical needs for events  
  • Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies and best practices, to deliver events that meet the client’s expectations and exceed the competition.  
  • Identify operational problems that impact the effectiveness of overall execution and work closely with DOS, and/or appropriate Departments on solutions, as directed. 
  • Responsible for conducting a post -event analysis, gathering feedback from stakeholders, analyzing data and identifying the areas for improvement. 
  • All other responsibilities and duties assigned by the Director of Catering 
     

What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

  • 3+ years of experience in event planning, sales, or event management   
  • Ability to manage events from conception to execution, multitask and manage multiple events concurrently  
  • Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines, manage priorities and adapt to last-minute changes.  
  • Hardworking nature, hands-on approach, and a passion for the business. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, management, vendors, and clients. 
  • Able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business levels. 

Nice-to-haves:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Where you'll be working:

This role will be based out of the Abigail Kirsch office located at 530 Seventh Avenue, Suite 301 New York, NY 10018. This role will also require local travel to support on-site events.
